Your Complete Guide to Distortion Ø 2026: Stages, Tips & What to Expect on Refshaleøen
Distortion Ø 2026 is not your average festival. There are no camping fields, no wellies and no 3pm main stage sets. This is a purpose-built rave on a former industrial island, running from 18:00 until 04:00 on Friday and 06:00 on Saturday – and every stage has a distinct character you need to understand before you arrive.
Here’s your insider guide to making the most of Distortion Ø 2026 on Refshaleøen.

The Five Distortion Ø 2026 Stages Explained
Rave Stage – Techno, Maximum Energy Hosted by Manchester’s Teletech, the Rave Stage is the centrepiece of Distortion Ø. In 2026 it becomes a full 360-degree stage, with the booth surrounded by crowd on all sides. The music ranges from industrial techno to hard, modern techno to psy-inflected darkness. If you’re drawn to Sara Landry, Charlie Sparks or Shlømo, this is your home base.
Forest Stage – House, Garage & Live Moments The most eclectic stage on the island, the Forest Stage sits beneath the trees and thrives on human connection. WhoMadeWho, Carlita and Interplanetary Criminal play Friday; Parra for Cuva’s live set, Pegassi and MCR-T headline Saturday. The energy here tends to feel more inclusive – big smiles, live vocals and groove-forward programming.
Oasis Stage – Deep House & Detroit Soul You’ll need to seek this one out – it’s tucked behind a secret opening in the forest with hammocks and close-knit, club-like intimacy. Kevin Saunderson on Friday and Moodymann on Saturday make this the most historically significant corner of Distortion Ø 2026. If you care about the roots of electronic music, don’t miss either set.
Sunrise Stage – Melodic Techno Facing East Built for the long night. Facing east on open outdoor terrain with soft ground underfoot, the Sunrise Stage rewards patience. As the name implies, it’s the stage where you might just be dancing when the sky turns pink. Melodic, building, emotionally resonant – perfect for Saturday’s final stretch before 06:00.
Shadow Stage – Forest Trance, Maximum BPM The most underground stage on the island. Buried in the deepest part of the forest labyrinth, Shadow has a tea house aesthetic and a “mad hatter” atmosphere. If you’re into forest trance, high BPM and intimate collectives, this is the hidden gem. Arcanum Collective curate Friday; Quake takes Saturday. Three live sets on Friday alone.

Tips for First-Timers
Plan your route between stages, not just your headliners. Distortion Ø is spread across Refshaleøen’s grounds, and some stages – particularly Shadow – take time to find. Download the Distortion app before you arrive and look at the map.
Arrive early for the smaller stages. The Rave Stage will always have a crowd. But Oasis and Shadow hit special moments of intimacy early in the evening before they fill up. Kevin Saunderson and Moodymann will draw queues – get there before the peak.
Dress for Danish June nights. Copenhagen in June can be warm – but once 02:00 rolls around, especially near the waterfront, temperatures drop. Bring a layer. Forest trance in the Shadow Stage at 03:00 in just a T-shirt is a bold move.
Drink water. Regularly. Dancing for 8-10 hours in a row demands it. Water points are on site and free with a wristband.
Use the app. The Distortion app (iOS & Android) has the full schedule, map, and updates. Clashes happen – having the timetable on your phone saves a lot of back-and-forth.
Get your tickets in advance. Distortion Ø is regularly sold out. The Weekend Pass at 1.100 kr is the best value if you’re attending both nights. Single day tickets are 650 kr.
Distortion Ø 2026 Map and Stages Overview
What Makes Distortion Ø Special?
There are technically better-resourced festivals. There are festivals with bigger headliners. There are festivals with warmer weather. But Distortion Ø sits in a category of its own because of how specific it is.
Five stages, each with a distinct sound and atmosphere – you don’t just wander from stage to stage, you choose which world to inhabit for the night. The Rave Stage’s industrial asfalt and 360-degree crowd is as far as you can get from the Shadow Stage’s forest trance tea house, yet both exist on the same island on the same night.
Refshaleøen itself adds to this. The former shipyard setting, with its combination of open harbour views, industrial architecture and dense woodland, makes the physical environment part of the experience in a way that a purpose-built festival site never can.
And then there’s the broader Distortion context. The same week, just across the city, free street parties have been taking over Copenhagen’s neighbourhoods. By the time you arrive at Distortion Ø on Friday evening, the city has already been in festival mode for two days. The energy is different. Everyone around you has been in it together.
